On the night of the fire, just before 10 p.m. on July 28,  firefighters got there and put it out quickly, but the kitchen was destroyed. Joe and Carla received no insurance payout to speak of. Jean-Francois Flechet of Taste of Belgium helped them set up to sell gift cards. They sold T-shirts. That kept their personal bills paid, but not much was happening in getting the restaurant going again.But the help began right away. Customer Chris Heckman starting a GoFundMe campaign and raised $17,000. He’s just a casual customer, but, he said, “I just thought you can’t lose a place with that kind of soul.” Until Norris decided to take steps. “Tucker’s had to exist,” she said. Her firm, Urban Fast Forward, is involved in revitalization projects, and she knows how to get people on board. “My career’s been in the good deeds business. I’m accustomed to asking people, ” she said. The city covets new development atop Fountain Place in an effort to build density – ideally from new residences near big attractions such as Fountain Square – downtown. Local real estate analysts have said securing new development could help convince Macy’s to keep the store open. “If they can hang on two years, we can deliver a ton of customers,” said Kathleen Norris, principal of Urban Fast Forward in Over-the-Rhine, referencing development projects happening in and around the central business district.
